CHALLENGING ASSUMPTIONS
ASSUMPTION 1
I am assuming that the paper image will stick to the wood cover of the folio. The wood is pretty porous will it have enough surface area to hold. the paper. Does the wood have to be sanded first to make the surface area smooth for the paper to stick on. Does this then make the wood not have enough grip to hold on to the paper. Will just sticking the image on make the folder look tacky. Do i have to look at putting a finish over the lot to bring it up to the professional standard that i am looking for.
REFINEMENTS 1
I have done some research and a simple mix of wheat paste will stick paper to just about any thing. (street art paste ups: images are pasted on to anything in a public place, mettle poles, brick walls and wooden boards.) The only thing because we live in such a humid place in the past my wheat paste has become all mouldy and will make the folio look bad.

So i will need to use a glue base adhesive to make sure that the paper will stick but also the paper will not become mouldy. Some thing like the glue they use to put up wall paper. When i have thought about it i am probably going to use a simple wood glue watered down. PVC will dry clear so i could also use it to seal the front of the image.
ASSUMPTION 2
That wood will be the best material for the back and front cover.
I assumed that this would be the best material because it is redly available fairly cheap and i have the tools at home to cut and manufacture the materials to get the end product. I would not have to do any running around and would not have to worry about relining on any one to build it. I could construct it my self.

Will need to find a wood that can be smoothed down by sanding or wood that is already smooth like MDF.
Ply wood can be smoothed using a sander. I like ply because you can see the grain of the wood. It looks more natural than man made. The wood can come in very thin sheets which would reduce on weight.
Was also thinking about using recycled wood. Something that had been used before. It would have some character and a story behind it. Like a old wooden sign or boxes
Will also need to find hinges and a binder to keep my pages in the folder. I think that i will be able to pick them up from my local Bunnings store.
